Improve Your Smile With Invisalign

If you or your teen is dealing with a crooked smile, feeling confident may be a bit challenging; fortunately, your dentists, Drs. Robert and Sharlene Wilson of Eaglerun West Dental Group here at Omaha, NE, offer Invisalign to older teens and adults who are ready to straighten their teeth and look their best. Read on to learn more!

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic system that uses a set of clear, customized aligners that fit firmly against the teeth. Instead of the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces, which apply the pressure to the teeth to shift them around, these aligners apply all the pressure necessary to move teeth into the appropriate position. Patients love Invisalign because the aligners are both discreet and comfortable.

How often are Invisalign aligners worn?

Although the aligners are removable, it’s important that patients still wear them as much as possible throughout the day to ensure that they experience the results they want. A good rule of thumb is to only remove your aligners before eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing. This equates to wearing your aligners about 20 to 22 hours each day.

What is the typical length of treatment with Invisalign?

Most adults will see results with Invisalign in about one year. For teens, the length of treatment is a bit longer (about 18-24 months) but comparable to traditional braces. Of course, your treatment could be longer or shorter depending on the type and severity of the dental issues you or your teen is dealing with. During your consultation, our Omaha, NE, family dentists will be able to map out your treatment plan and then give you a projected length of treatment.
